The Plainville Public Library has acquired hundreds of the most current and popular research and non-fiction eBook titles from Gale, part of Cengage Learning and a leading publisher of research materials. This influx of new materials to the Plainville Public Library’s collection gives students, professionals and general readers access to millions of articles – available anytime, anywhere on the library’s website (http://www.plainvillect.com/library).
“Demand for eBooks by Plainville residents remains high and research is a top activity for many of our library users,” said Douglas Lord, Library Director. “We strive to be responsive to the needs of our community and are pleased to provide expanded access to the most-studied subjects in a manner that is both broad and deep.”
Users will appreciate a host of features, including the ability to easily access these new eBooks online at any time. This collection is designed for simultaneous usage, meaning an unlimited number of people can access the same information at the same time – no need to place holds on these titles.
To meet the diverse learning styles of the community of Plainville, articles can be read aloud using ReadSpeaker text-to-speech technology, translated to 13 languages, and even downloaded to eReader and MP3 devices for offline access. Gale’s eBook platform also supports a multi-page viewer for a traditional book-like experience and workflow tools for students and researchers like the ability to automatically generate article citations in a number of popular formats.
With information and tools that encourage personal enrichment, professional development and individual learning, the new eBook collections span a wide-range of subject areas including travel, business & entrepreneurship, health & medicine, science & the environment and much more.
The community is encouraged to use the new materials in-person at the library, or by logging on from their home computers through the Plainville Public Library’s website (http://www.plainvillect.com/library). For questions or more information, please contact Douglas Lord, Library Director.
